Stop, Stop, Stop!

The merchants association is asking everyone to please slow down when you are driving though the Village and to please recognize the fact that we do have pedestrian crosswalks which require you to stop when there is a person trying to cross the street.

So many times cars are not stopping and it has become dangerous for senior citizens and other people not familiar with cross walk laws to “get to the other side” of the street.

You must STOP if you see a person trying to cross the street in the cross walk. Please be aware when you are driving to slow down and stop when necessary. The public is very trusting and they presume that you will stop for them and so many times they miss getting hit by a car by just a few inches.

I welcome your comments about the cross walks in town because we feel that better signs or traffic devices can be had, especially near the bank and post office where so many people try to cross the street and have a hard time doing so.
